London Borough of Newham, Heritage Centre Project Manager

Newham is one of the youngest and most diverse boroughs in England.  Newham is a vibrant, diverse borough with a strong sense of community spirit. Home to the UK's newest cultural quarter, East Bank, at the heart of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

East Bank is a unique collaboration between cultural institutions, world leading universities and the people of the Olympic boroughs. Comprising BBC Music Studios, London College of Fashion, Sadler’s Wells East, University College London and V&A East.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Newham Council for a Project Manager to lead a National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) project to transform the Grade II listed Canning Town Old Library (CTOL), into a new heritage centre for the council’s Heritage Service.

The Project Manager is integral to the CTOL project, managing the NLHF elements including preparation and application to NLHF for the Delivery Phase grant, managing new staff and consultants, development of fundraising, commercial and partnership strategies, overseeing development and delivery of communications and engagement plans. The role will work closely with Regeneration colleagues who are managing the capital element of the project.

The post holder will have budget responsibility and be trained in appropriate financial systems to allow you to process payments.  The post holder will be expected to effectively keep records and cost reports for a large and financially complex project to multiple stakeholders. The post holder will be line managed by the Arts, Heritage and Events Manager but will be accountable to project governance boards, commensurate with the scale and ambition of the project.
